Light T-shirt Fabric Transfers - Ironing and Heat Press Instructions
After you have your design printed and confirm that the design is mirror image you are ready to start the transfer.
Ironing Instructions for LIGHT T-shirt Transfers (for conventional irons):
- Make sure your iron has no water in it.
- Turn off steam setting.
- Preheat your iron to a high / cotton setting .
- Put a towel down on your ironing surface and then place your T-shirt on top of it.
- Put transfer paper face-down on your T-shirt (so that you can see the Avery logos on the back of the paper facing you).
- Before ironing, make sure you are using a heat resistant surface such as a wooden table. We do not recommend using an ironing board, glass table, or concrete surfaces for fabric transfers. Begin ironing your transfer paper onto your T-shirt using heavy pressure.
- The amount of time you should be ironing varies by the size of the label that's being ironed:
- Full sheet: 3 minutes
- 1/2 sheet: 90 seconds
- 1/4 sheet: 45 seconds
- Allow label to cool for 2 minutes.
- Carefully peel off the back of the transfer paper. If the label begins to lift off of the T-shirt, continue ironing until you are able to peel off the back without pulling off the label.
- Before wearing your T-shirt, wash it inside-out in cold water with a mild detergent and then allow it to dry by laying it flat or by applying low heat.
- Do not use any fabric softener while washing, as this may cause the transfer to fade, crack, or peel.
- Temperature: 375°F (190°C)
- Pressure: High
- Time: 15 seconds
Avery Fabric Transfers are guaranteed to look good after 20 washes, when applied and washed according to instructions.
